About This Property
Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island is the only stay on this outer-island coral cay — a 35-minute flight from Mahé, not a ferry hop. Go2Africa files it under Private Islands, Seychelles: a 14-kilometre (nine-mile) island of white sand and forest in the Amirantes. Official copy puts the island at 400 hectares (988 acres) with nine miles of beach. You are allocated a bicycle on arrival.
Official inventory is 71 villas, suites and residences, all with a private pool and beach access. Go2Africa still describes the spread as made-for-two bungalows up to grand villas that sleep 16. The current Four Seasons bands are one-bedroom pool villas (191–256 m²), two suite types beside the restaurants, two- to five-bedroom Residence Villas with kitchens, and Presidential Villas up to seven bedrooms.
This is a published 5-star private-island resort, not a ten-cottage hideaway. Claudine is the all-day Mediterranean restaurant; The Lighthouse is the dinner room for fish and shellfish; the Deli packs picnics. There is a main lodge pool, a gym, a flood-lit tennis court, yoga, and the Circle of Connection Spa. Kids For All Seasons (4–12) and a Teen Centre sit on the family side of the product.
Go2Africa lists 14 dive sites around the island; Four Seasons currently lists 18 classified sites, including the Desroches Drop, booked at the Castaway Centre with Blue Safari. Snorkelling, kayaks, sailing and windsurfing are on the same water-sports desk. Conservation walks and the giant-tortoise sanctuary are the land half. There is no cellular network on the island; premium Wi-Fi is complimentary in the villas.
The published stay is bed and breakfast on official B&B offers (TPG 2024 also treated breakfast as in the villa rate). Lunch, dinner, diving and the IDC island flight are extra unless you buy a named all-inclusive board. Inner-island Seychelles stays such as Le Duc de Praslin Hotel & Villas are a different geography — Desroches is an outer-island runway.
Why We Love It
We like Desroches because it is a whole island, not a beach strip off Victoria. Thirty-five minutes in a small IDC aircraft, one resort, a bicycle on the path, and a house reef that Go2Africa still sells as a scuba destination — that is a different Seychelles to the inner islands.
The 71-key Four Seasons is larger than a boutique lodge, but every published category has its own pool and a walk to the sand. Couples can stay in a 191 m² Ocean-View Pool Villa; families have a real answer in the suites and the two- to five-bed residences. The seven-bedroom presidential is the 16-guest house Go2Africa flagged.
We would fly Mahé the afternoon before the 10:30 Desroches sector, keep bags to 30 kg, and budget the island airfare (EUR 500 adult return for most of 2026, plus 15% VAT, festive higher). Breakfast is the honest default; the bar and the dive boat are not. There is no cell signal, which we treat as a feature, not a bug.
Come for the outer islands, the tortoises and the Drop. Do not come expecting a town, a wheelchair-easy path or a last-minute ferry home. For a private-island beach lodge in the Mozambique Channel rather than the Amirantes, see Azura Benguerra Island.
Rooms & Details
Pool Villas

Go2Africa’s made-for-two end of the island is the official one-bedroom pool-villa band: Ocean-View, Premier Ocean-View, Beach Pool and Sunset-View. Each joins living room and bedroom, opens to a terrace and a 19 m² private pool in a garden, and has direct beach access. Sizes run 191–256 m² including garden and pool. Occupancy is two adults, or two adults and one child under 12 (Premier Ocean-View allows two children under 12; Sunset-View is two adults only).
King bed, indoor and outdoor showers, a deep tub, air-conditioning, espresso and tea, a refrigerated bar, HD television, premium Wi-Fi and Four Seasons bicycles are on the official villa card.
Suites

Two suite types sit next to the Discovery Centre and the restaurants — Go2Africa’s two-bedroom beachfront product. The Sunset Beach Suite is 267 m² including garden and pool: one king, two single sofa beds and a crib on request, for two adults, two children and an infant, or three adults and an infant.
The Desroches Two-Bedroom Suite is 663 m², with two kings, sofa beds, a rollaway and an upper terrace. Occupancy is four adults, two children and an infant, or five adults and an infant. Private terraces, pools and beach access throughout.
Residence Villas

Two- to five-bedroom Residence Villas are Go2Africa’s family and friends houses: full kitchen, open-air lounge, private pool and tropical garden, with a Residence Host. Published occupancy is four guests (up to two children) in the two-bed, six in the three-bed, eight in the four-bed and ten in the five-bed. Residences sit across the airstrip from the main resort strip on TPG’s 2024 count of 13 palatial residences alongside the 71 villas and suites.
Presidential Villas

Two- to seven-bedroom Presidential Villas, plus a Five-Bedroom Royal Villa, are the top of Go2Africa’s range that sleeps up to 16. The Seven-Bedroom Presidential lists 16 guests including up to eight children. The Two-Bedroom Presidential is 475 m² for four adults, or two adults, two children and an infant. Larger presidential gardens are measured in thousands of square metres; the five- and seven-bed cards are call-to-book.
Claudine, The Lighthouse & the Deli

Go2Africa names two restaurants and a Deli. Claudine is the main Mediterranean room for breakfast, lunch and dinner, indoors and out, with a children’s menu. The Lighthouse is the dinner option for fish and shellfish, with a sushi bar on Go2Africa copy; official 2026 menus also list dry-aged meats.
The Deli is picnic bread, cold meats, cheeses and take-away coffee. Two bars — one indoors, one on the beach — and private in-suite dining on request. Official pages also list a pizzeria at the Castaway Centre.
The other live Seychelles stay on this site is Le Duc de Praslin Hotel & Villas on Praslin, an inner-island hop rather than this outer-island flight.
Tortoise sanctuary & family clubs

Go2Africa’s family favourite is the wildlife sanctuary and its giant Aldabra tortoises. Kids For All Seasons (ages 4–12) is complimentary, with an outdoor playground and air-conditioned rooms; teenagers have the Teen Centre on Sunset Beach. A marine educator at the Discovery Centre leads snorkelling trips. The Castaway Centre books scuba, fishing and water sports, and serves the Castaway Bar.

Location
How to Get There
From Seychelles International Airport (SEZ), Mahé
Desroches is a 35-minute IDC Aviation flight from the domestic terminal at SEZ. Four Seasons is the only resort on the island; the runway (DES) adjoins the property. Book the sector only through Four Seasons reservations, not as a public airline ticket. Official 2026 return fares: EUR 500 per adult (12+) and EUR 420 per child (2–11) for 11 January–20 December 2026; EUR 745 / EUR 645 in the 21 December 2026–10 January 2027 festive window. Add 15% VAT. Infants on a lap are complimentary. Luggage 30 kg per paying passenger.
Published timetable: Mahé–Desroches every day at 10:30; Desroches–Mahé at 11:30 (up to 30 minutes’ slip). Most of 2026 is daily; listed festive windows run twice daily. Check in at least 30 minutes before departure on the official getting-here page (some OTAs still say one hour). A Four Seasons greeter meets international arrivals and walks you to the domestic check-in. Helicopters cannot fly this route. Private aircraft need a landing permit.
On the island
Bicycles are allocated on arrival. Official amenities also include a resort golf cart and shuttle. Paths are sandy; TPG does not rate the island as wheelchair-friendly. Check-in 15:00, check-out 12:00. If your long-haul lands after the 10:30 sector, overnight on Mahé — official copy suggests Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, about 30 minutes from SEZ.

Things to Do
At the property
Swim in the main lodge pool or in your villa pool. Eat at Claudine (breakfast, lunch, dinner), The Lighthouse (dinner) and the Deli; official pages also name a pizzeria at the Castaway Centre. Two bars, one on the beach. Circle of Connection Spa, 24-hour gym, flood-lit tennis and yoga. Movie nights with popcorn are on Go2Africa’s unwind list. Premium Wi-Fi is in the villas; there is no cellular network.
Kids For All Seasons (4–12, complimentary) and the Teen Centre on Sunset Beach occupy children. A Residence Host comes with the larger houses. Bicycles are issued on arrival; official copy also lists a golf-cart shuttle, so G2A’s “bicycles only” line is the tone, not the whole transport picture.
In the area
The island is the playground: snorkelling, kayaks, stand-up paddle, sailing and windsurfing from the Castaway Centre. Scuba is a paid Blue Safari desk — Go2Africa’s 14 sites, Four Seasons’ 18 classified sites, including the Desroches Drop. Deep-sea fishing and Tropicsurf sessions are extra. Conservation guides lead nature walks; the Aldabra tortoise sanctuary is a set outing.
Beaches are child-friendly on Go2Africa’s telling. TPG flags Aquarium Beach for turtles. Sunset Beach is the west-facing strip (suites and the sunset-view villa). Coral Beach is the south-side pool-villa address.
Day trips
There is no village day-trip and no ferry to Mahé. Dive sites around neighbouring islands are the usual boat days. Helicopters cannot make the Desroches crossing (official). Combination nights on Mahé at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles are a published option if your international connection is tight — that Mahé hotel is a separate property, not this listing.
This is not an inner-island hop to Le Duc de Praslin. You fly in on IDC and you stay.
Good to Know
Children: Family plan — no extra room charge for children 17 and under sharing with parents, space permitting. Kids For All Seasons 4–12 (unaccompanied from 4; younger children need an adult). Babysitting EUR 50 per hour excluding tax (official family page). Teen Centre on Sunset Beach (Go2Africa).
Meal plan: Default is bed and breakfast on official B&B offers. Castaway-style all-inclusive (meals, selected drinks, minibar restock, three-night minimum) is a dated add-on, not the headline rate. Gala or festive boards are not published on Go2Africa.
Flights: Not in the room rate. IDC only, booked by the resort. No cell network on Desroches; calls via landline or Wi-Fi.
Spa: Circle of Connection Spa (official). Go2Africa says wellness spa, yoga and gym.
Dive count: Go2Africa 14 world-class sites; Four Seasons 18 classified sites.
Accessibility: Small-plane arrival, sandy paths, stairs in some villas. TPG: not the most wheelchair-friendly resort; mild mobility can use the buggy service.
Doctor: On-island clinic with a doctor on call (ResortDoc); charges apply.
What3Words: None published.
Who It's For
Honeymooners and couples in a one-bedroom pool villa; families in suites, residences and presidential villas (Kids For All Seasons 4–12, Teen Centre); divers and snorkellers who will take the IDC sector and stay put. Not for wheelchair users (sandy paths, small plane, stairs). Not a Mahé road arrival and not a daily-ferry island. No cellular network.
Best Time to Visit
Year-round 5-star private-island resort. Official IDC flights run daily most of 2026 (twice daily in listed festive windows on the getting-here page). Turtle hatching is seasonal (Go2Africa). Beach conditions and water sports vary with weather (TPG). Shoulder seas in the wider Seychelles are often April–May and October–November — confirm at booking, not a Desroches-only official calendar.
