About This Property

Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa is a 5-star Beachcomber on Mauritius’s north-west coast, in the village it is named for. The official site puts it in a 35-hectare tropical garden on nearly two kilometres of white sand and a turquoise lagoon, facing west for sunsets. Go2Africa still sells it as a private-beach family and honeymoon resort with six restaurants and a long list of complimentary land and water sports.

The 2025–26 factsheet counts 333 keys: 90 Junior Suites (about 63 m²), 110 Tropical Junior Suites (about 70 m²), 44 Beachfront Suites with pool (about 102 m²), 22 Beachfront Senior Suites with pool (about 163 m²), 40 two-bedroom Family Suites (about 94 m²), ten 2-bedroom pool villas (about 246 m²) and 17 3-bedroom pool villas (about 290 m²). Suites sit in a village-style garden layout. Each published suite has air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, a mini-bar with complimentary tea and coffee, a safe, a hairdryer, and an en-suite bathroom with bath, shower and separate toilet. Outdoor showers are listed on all but the first-floor Junior Suites and some upstairs Family Suites. Beachfront categories add a private pool and resort-host service.

Dining is spread across six restaurants — L’Oasis (international buffet), La Caravelle (bistronomy), Blue Ginger (Asian fusion), Mahiya (Indian), Il Corallo (Italian) and La Plage (Mediterranean beach) — plus L’Oasis Bar and La Caravelle Bar. Half-board is the usual plan; all-inclusive is optional. Kids Club (3–11) has its own restaurant, garden and pool; Teens Club covers 12–17. Spa Beachcomber, a gym (from 16 years), six tennis courts and a PADI/CMAS dive centre sit on site. Golf is not on the hotel: guests have privileged access to Paradis Golf Club and Mont Choisy Le Golf.

The hotel is closed from 15 May to 15 October 2026 for a refresh of selected areas and a beach-restoration project, and is due to reopen on 15 October 2026 for its 55th anniversary. Room photos and the factsheet describe the pre-closure layout; confirm what has changed when you book after reopening.

Why We Love It

We like this hotel for the geography and the family kit, not for a golf course it does not have. You are on the west-facing Trou aux Biches lagoon, in 35 hectares of garden, with nearly two kilometres of sand — that is the north-west coast setting Beachcomber is selling, and it is why the place works as a beach week after a safari.

The room mix is unusually clear for a big resort: juniors in the garden, tropical juniors with outdoor showers, beachfront suites with their own pools, and 27 walled villas with kitchens, infinity pools and a Villa Host. Kids Club is not a basement rumpus room — it has its own restaurant, garden and pool — and there is a teens club so 12–17s are not parked with the toddlers.

We would book half-board unless you want the optional all-inclusive, and we would not pretend golf is on the lawn: Paradis and Mont Choisy are privileged-access courses, with green fees extra. The honest caveat in 2026 is the calendar. The hotel is closed 15 May–15 October for a refresh and a beach-restoration project. Use it from 15 October, once it has reopened for the 55th anniversary, and confirm what the renovation actually changed.

Best Time to Visit

Closed 15 May–15 October 2026 for a hotel refresh and a STABIPLAGE beach-restoration project (reopening 15 October 2026, the resort’s 55th anniversary). Outside that window Mauritius’s north-west coast is a year-round beach destination, known for sunsets over a sheltered lagoon. Cyclone season in the wider south-west Indian Ocean is typically November–April. School holidays and 20 December–8 January are the busiest periods (minimum-stay rules apply on 29–31 December).
