Le Duc de Praslin is a boutique hotel on Praslin, the Seychelles’ second island, set in tropical gardens a short walk from Cote d’Or beach on the island’s north-east coast. It runs at a smaller scale than most Seychelles resorts, which is the main reason to choose it.

Why We Love It
The villa range is what sets this apart from a standard island hotel. Being able to put a family or two couples into a three or four bedroom villa with a butler, on Praslin rather than a private island, is unusual value.
Praslin itself is the other reason. From here La Digue and Curieuse are day trips rather than expeditions, and the Vallee de Mai is on the same island, so a week here does not have to be spent on one beach.

Superior Rooms
Set within the tropical gardens, the Superior Rooms are generously sized with a private terrace or balcony looking into the greenery. The extra floor space makes them a sensible pick for stays of a week or more.
Ocean Rooms
Positioned closer to the shoreline, the Ocean Rooms pair contemporary interiors with terraces or balconies opening onto the gardens. Air conditioning, a Nespresso machine and a minibar are standard.
Family and Honeymoon Suites
Family Suites add separate sleeping areas and sit close to the pools and restaurants. Honeymoon Suites go the other way, trading convenience for privacy, more space and outdoor living areas.
Villas 180, 270 and 360
The three-bedroom Villa 180 and four-bedroom Villas 270 and 360 offer the most privacy on the property, with expansive indoor and outdoor living and a dedicated butler. They suit larger families or two couples travelling together.

The Magna mineral pools sit alongside the main pool, with a rooftop spa pavilion above. Le Dauphin handles main dining, Cafe des Arts does seafood on the beachfront, and the Chill Out Tapas Lounge and Blue Octopus Bar cover drinks.

How to Get There
Fly into Mahe (SEZ) on an international connection, then take the short domestic flight to Praslin Island Airport (PRI) or the scheduled fast ferry across. Transfers to the hotel are arranged from either.
Praslin combines easily with Mahe, La Digue or a mainland safari, which is the classic Indian Ocean pairing for East and Southern African trips.
Nearby Attractions
The Vallee de Mai nature reserve on Praslin, Anse Lazio beach, and day trips by boat to La Digue and Curieuse islands.
Things to Do
The sea sets the agenda: snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and fishing, with boat excursions to the neighbouring islands. Bicycle hire makes the rest of Praslin accessible.
