About This Property

Skeleton Coast Shipwreck Lodge is one of Africa's most unusual properties — a collection of ten cabins designed to resemble the wooden hulls of ships wrecked along Namibia's notorious Skeleton Coast. The cabins sit among the dunes, within sight of the Atlantic Ocean, in one of the most remote and hauntingly beautiful landscapes on Earth.

Each shipwreck cabin features a king-size bed, en-suite bathroom, and large windows framing the surreal desert-meets-ocean panorama. The design is clever and atmospheric — weathered wood, nautical details, and a sense of having been deposited by the sea.

The Skeleton Coast is a place of extremes: desert-adapted elephants, brown hyena, Cape fur seal colonies, and the eerie remains of actual shipwrecks scattered along the beach. Fog rolls in from the Atlantic most mornings, creating a mysterious atmosphere that's utterly unique in Africa.

Why We Love It

The Shipwreck Lodge is safari accommodation at its most creative. Sleeping in a vessel-shaped cabin while the Atlantic fog creeps past your window is deliciously eerie. The Skeleton Coast itself is like nowhere else on Earth — a place where desert elephants walk along the beach and seal colonies number in the tens of thousands. This is adventure travel at its finest.
