About This Property
Elephant Pan sits in a private concession in the Khwai River area, right on the edge of Moremi Game Reserve and the Okavango Delta. It’s a small camp of just eight tents, and we love that it feels personal rather than polished: canvas, solar lights and a waterhole that never seems to go quiet.
Because the camp is outside the reserve, you get the best of both worlds. We spend days in Moremi with a packed lunch, then come home to night drives with a spotlight and guided walks, which aren’t allowed inside the park. Elephant, buffalo, hippo and hyena are around all year, and the area is known for big cats and wild dogs.
Why We Love It
We keep coming back to the hide. It sits at ground level beside the floodlit waterhole, so an elephant’s knees are suddenly at eye level and you can hear every slurp. Add a night out on an elevated sky bed under the stars, and this is a simple camp with some properly memorable moments.

Tent
Each of the eight tents has a double or twin beds, a private bathroom with hot showers and a few chairs outside for watching the bush wake up. Solar power runs the lights and your own charging point, and there’s an electronic safe and plenty of space to unpack.
Main areas
Life revolves around one lounge and bar with indoor and outdoor dining. Two seating spots look straight onto the waterhole, there’s a small reference library, and a plunge pool with a sundeck for the hot middle of the day. Wi-fully inclusive works in the main lounge.
Dining
Meals are shared around one table in the main camp, unless you ask for something private. Mornings start early with coffee and a light breakfast before the drive. Cold drinks, local beer and wine are part of the rate.
