About This Property
Gombe Lodge is a small tented camp for just 14 guests on the shore of Lake Tanganyika, inside Gombe Stream National Park. The park is famous for its chimpanzees, and walking safaris track active chimp families through the forest.
Olive baboons and red colobus, red-tailed and vervet monkeys are also common. Because the camp is on the world’s second-deepest lake, you can snorkel, fish and kayak, hike to the Mkenke and Kakombe waterfalls, and visit the Kigoma fishing village. More than 200 bird species have been recorded.
Why We Love It
We love how remote and intimate it feels, with dhows on the lake and forest-covered hills behind.
It suits fit travellers who like hiking and want a primate trip off the usual circuit.
