Klaserie Game Reserve guide
Overview
Klaserie Private Nature Reserve covers about 60,000 hectares on the western side of Kruger National Park, north of Hoedspruit. It is one of the largest private reserves in the Greater Kruger, and its fences with Kruger have been removed, so wildlife moves freely across the whole area.
The Klaserie and Olifants rivers flow through the reserve, and the landscape is made of mopane and mixed bushveld, open grassland and riverine forest. Because it is privately owned and has relatively few lodges for its size, the reserve is quiet, and vehicles can drive off-road to sightings.
Lodges in the Klaserie range from simple bush camps to luxury lodges. Activities include game drives, guided bush walks and, at some camps, sleep-outs.
Wildlife & Biodiversity
Big game
All of the Big Five live in the reserve. Elephant and buffalo herds are common, and lion and leopard are seen regularly.
Other wildlife
Cheetah, African wild dog and spotted hyena roam here too, as well as giraffe, zebra, kudu, waterbuck and hippo in the rivers.

Entrance & Fees
Klaserie doesn't take day visitors. Access is for guests at its lodges, and a reserve levy or conservation fee is charged per person per night. It's usually added to your lodge bill or included in the rate.
Confirm the current levy with your lodge before you travel.
Fees last checked October 2026. The reserve doesn't publish its levy online.
