About This Property
Sanctuary Stanley’s — now branded Stanley’s Camp, an A&K Sanctuary — is a classic tented camp on a 260 000-acre private concession in the southern Okavango Delta, bordering Moremi Game Reserve. Ten canvas suites sit under ebony and sausage trees, looking over the floodplains. Maximum occupancy is 20 guests in the standard two-per-tent layout (two tents can be triples).
Because this is private land, not the national park itself, the camp can run night drives, off-road / water-crossing game drives and guided walks. Mokoro outings run when the flood is in. A&K Sanctuary also offers scenic helicopter flights over the permanent Delta (Bell Jet Ranger, doors-off option, extra). Go2Africa flags Big 5 searching, gourmet food served alfresco, and an intimate camp.
Each tent is individually designed, elevated, and furnished with a king bed that converts to twin, seating, a desk, a ceiling fan, an en-suite indoor shower, a hairdryer, an in-room safe, a mini-bar, tea and coffee, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a private wooden deck (hammocks on the operator Wetu copy). Africa A-Z puts each tent at about 68 m² including the deck. There is no air conditioning on the operator factsheets.
The main area is a tented Explorer’s Lounge and dining space plus an outdoor bar, with a rim-flow / infinity pool looking over the floodplain. Go2Africa’s dining notes: gourmet cuisine and vintage wines by candlelight; afternoon tea and pre-dinner snacks have been replaced by an all-day snack menu. Private dinners can be arranged.
The published rate is fully inclusive of meals, selected drinks, laundry, park fees and airstrip transfers. Current A&K child policy is 6 years and older to stay and to join game drives; walks are 16+. Go2Africa still prints “children under 12 welcome” — confirm ages when you book. It is a malaria area, and you will share the concession only with this camp’s vehicles, not with Moremi park traffic.
Maun is a short hop away. Pack a 20 kg soft bag for the light aircraft.
Why We Love It
We love Stanley’s for the concession. Two hundred and sixty thousand acres on the Moremi boundary means night drives, water-crossing game drives and walks that you cannot do inside the national park. Ten tents keep it small. The floodplain is the view from the pool, the lounge and the decks.
We also like that it is still a tented camp in the old sense — canvas, fans, a rim-flow pool, gourmet food under the trees — without pretending to be a hotel. Go2Africa’s guests keep coming back to the guiding, the chef and the sense that you are in a remote bit of the Delta, not on a busy park road.
Come when the water is up if you want mokoro as well as the vehicle. Come with a soft 20 kg bag. Confirm the child ages, because Go2Africa and the current A&K sheet do not say the same thing. And ask, if it matters to you, whether the old elephant walk is still running — it is not on the operator’s current activities list.
Stay two or three nights. Pair it with a drier camp if you want both water and concentrated dry-season game.

Location
How to Get There
From Maun
Fly scheduled services to Maun, then a light-aircraft hop to Stanley’s registered private airstrip (about 15 minutes; times depend on other pick-ups and drop-offs). The camp is about 20 minutes by road from the airstrip in low water. In higher water, partner pages describe a boat transfer of about 50 minutes plus a short road transfer of about five minutes. Return airstrip transfers are included on the fully inclusive rate. Inter-camp flights are typically on Mack Air. Luggage is restricted to 20 kg per person in a soft-sided bag (including hand luggage and cameras), maximum dimensions 30 cm × 35 cm × 70 cm.
From Kasane / Livingstone
Published flying times (again subject to stops): Kasane to Stanley’s airstrip about 1 hour 30 minutes; Livingstone via Kasane about 2 hours; Livingstone via Kazungula and Kasane about 2 hours 30 minutes. Chief’s airstrip to Stanley’s airstrip is listed at about 10 minutes.

Things to Do
At the property
Rim-flow swimming pool and sun deck overlooking the floodplain; Explorer’s Lounge, dining tent and outdoor bar; all-day snack menu. Private dinners (starlit or by the pool) are listed by partner pages. Some factsheets mention gym equipment. There is no spa and no in-room television.
In the area
Morning and afternoon game drives on the private concession — water crossings, zebra grazing belly-deep, and the chance of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, hyena, giraffe and large buffalo herds. Night drives after sundowners use a spotlight. Guided walks (16+) read tracks and the small five. Seasonal mokoro through lily channels for hippo, crocodile, fish eagle and frogs (typically 12+). Birding is a year-round extra layer (400+ species on partner lists).
Day trips
Scenic helicopter flights west over the permanent Delta (30, 45 or 60 minutes, doors-off option, extra) are the main outing beyond camp. There is no public road into camp; itineraries usually pair Stanley’s with another Okavango or Chobe camp by light aircraft rather than a long road day.
Good to Know
Children: Current A&K Sanctuary / safari.com (May 2026) policy: minimum age to stay and to join game drives is 6. Walking safaris 16+. Mokoro typically 12+. Children 15 and younger must share a tent with an adult. Only two tents can be triples; a third adult sharing is not recommended because of the open-plan bathroom. A private vehicle must be booked for families travelling with 6-year-olds (safari.com) / children 6 and under (A&K child-policy table). Go2Africa’s glance still reads “Children Under 12 Welcome”; an older Sanctuary camp guide welcomed all ages. Confirm ages when you book. Child-minding by housekeeping (not a registered babysitter) is available at a nominal fee paid to the carer. Dedicated children’s activities (mokoro poling, edible plants, rope-making) are listed by the operator.Check-in / check-out: 14:00 / 10:00 on a detailed third-party factsheet (buptours). Another older partner page listed check-out 11:00. Confirm with the camp. What is included: Fully inclusive: tent, all meals, drinks except premium brands and champagne, two daily shared activities (game drives, seasonal mokoro, walks), laundry, park fees, airstrip transfers, emergency medical evacuation, complimentary Wi-Fi. Helicopter flights and a private vehicle are extra. Go2Africa notes an all-day snack menu has replaced afternoon tea and pre-dinner snacks. No air conditioning: Operator Wetu lists a ceiling fan (and a standing fan on some partner sheets). A travel write-up confirms no air-con.Elephant interaction: Older Sanctuary copy and some partner pages still advertise a Living with Elephants walk. It is not on the current A&K Sanctuary Wetu activities list. Confirm whether it still runs before you plan around it.Malaria: Malaria area. Speak to a travel clinic. Yellow-fever certificates if arriving from a declared infected country.Power: 220 V AC. Africa A-Z: solar with generator and battery backup. Gym equipment is listed on some partner factsheets (not on Wetu facilities).Luggage: 20 kg in a soft bag, no wheels, on light-aircraft sectors.
Who It's For
Couples and small groups who want a classic, intimate Okavango tented camp with private-concession night drives and seasonal mokoro, not a large lodge. Honeymooners are actively courted on A&K Sanctuary offers. Families with children six and over can work if they accept two triples only and a private vehicle for younger children; it is not a dedicated family camp. Not for anyone who needs air conditioning, a guaranteed spa, or a walk-in family suite.
Best Time to Visit
Open year-round. Dry / flood season typically May–October: floodwaters from Angola turn the plains into channels and lagoons; game viewing and mokoro are both strong. Green / wet season typically November–April: hotter, afternoon storms, lush cover and stronger birding. A&K Sanctuary notes the floodplain transformation between May and September.
