About This Property
Chobe Game Lodge holds the unique distinction of being the only permanent safari lodge located within the boundaries of Chobe National Park — home to the largest concentration of elephants in Africa. An estimated 120,000 elephants roam this region, and during the dry season, herds of several hundred regularly gather along the Chobe River directly in front of the lodge.
The lodge has been welcoming guests since 1972 and has hosted dignitaries including Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, who married here in 1975. A complete renovation has brought the property firmly into the luxury era, with 44 river-facing rooms and suites featuring contemporary African design.
Chobe offers a dual safari experience: morning game drives through the park's woodland habitats, and afternoon boat cruises along the Chobe River — arguably the finest water-based safari activity in Southern Africa.
Why We Love It
No other lodge in Africa can match Chobe's elephant encounters. Watching a herd of 300 elephants cross the river at sunset from your private deck is one of those life-altering experiences. The boat safaris are exceptional — you'll see hippos, crocodiles, fish eagles, and elephants bathing from just metres away. The lodge's riverfront location is simply unbeatable.
