About This Property
Chitabe Camp sits on a tree-shaded island in a private concession just south of Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve. Palm-dotted floodplains, open savannah and thick acacia and mopane woodland all meet here, and the edges where one blends into the next are wonderfully rich in game and birds.
With only eight tents and never more than 16 guests, it feels intimate. Raised boardwalks wind through jackalberry trees, and even the gym looks out over the plains, so a passing giraffe never slips by unseen.
Why We Love It
We love the night drives, when bushbabies, genets, civets, porcupines and owls come out. On foot, birders go looking for red-billed francolin, gabar goshawk and African hawk-eagle. The Bush Buddy programme keeps young guests busy too.
Rooms & Details
Standard Twin Tent

Eight roomy, individually decorated Meru-style tents with hardwood floors that run out to a private veranda over the floodplain. Glass windows keep winter nights snug, while fans and shade netting let the breeze in on hot afternoons.
Main Lodge

Raised platforms joined by walkways through ebony forest hold the dining room, plus a lounge and bar facing west for the sunsets. There’s a plunge pool with loungers on one side and the gym on the other.
Dining

Most meals are buffets of hearty home cooking under the vaulted thatch of the dining room. Expect warm muffins at dawn, coffee in bed and bread baked fresh for brunch.

Best Time to Visit
Open year-round. Dry season / high flood months (roughly June–October) concentrate game on plains; green season brings birding and fewer crowds. Wild dog denning often peaks mid-year — confirm with Wilderness.
