About This Property
Hatari Lodge sits on the northern border of Arusha National Park, with Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru in view. The lodge was once home to the cast and crew of the 1962 film Hatari!, which starred John Wayne.
Ngurdoto Crater and the Momella Lakes, with their waterfowl and hippos, are close by. Colobus monkeys and flamingos are part of the scene, and a private jetty runs out to a popular watering hole. The nine rooms take their inspiration from the Op Art of the 1950s and 1960s, with ceramics, furniture, linen and carpets made by Tanzanian craftspeople and co-operatives.
Why We Love It
We love the playful, retro design and the film history.
It makes a great first or last night near Arusha, with real game on the doorstep.
