About This Property
Kyaninga Lodge is nine thatched log cabins above Lake Kyaninga, one of Uganda’s deepest crater lakes, near Fort Portal. Each cabin was built from more than a thousand hand-carved logs and looks out to the Rwenzori Mountains, the Mountains of the Moon.
We use it as a base for hikes with views over the Rift Valley and the Rwenzoris, and for trips to Kibale and Queen Elizabeth national parks. More than 10,000 indigenous trees have been planted here as part of the lodge’s conservation work.
Why We Love It
We love the sporty, country-house feel: tennis, croquet, badminton and boules, a pool on grassy terraces, and board games by the double-sided log fire. The cantilevered wellness centre is perfect after a trek.
