About This Property
Grootbos Forest Lodge stands in the almost 2,800 ha Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, looking over the Atlantic Ocean and the Overberg mountains. The award-winning lodge is built from local sandstone and sustainably harvested timber, and with only 16 suites it feels intimate.
Guided drives and walks explain the fynbos and the close relationships between the indigenous plants and animals. You can also go horse riding, whale watching, on a flower safari or on a scenic flight. Grootbos is a member of Fair Trade Tourism, and the Grootbos Foundation works to conserve critically endangered fynbos and train the surrounding communities.
Why We Love It
We love how secluded the suites feel, tucked into the forest with fireplaces and canopy beds. It’s a beautiful honeymoon choice.
The food uses ingredients from the Grootbos gardens, and the Foundation’s conservation and community work is genuine.
