Khama Rhino Sanctuary guide

Overview

Khama Rhino Sanctuary lies near Serowe in eastern Botswana, about 25 km from the town. It’s run by the Khama Rhino Sanctuary Trust, a community project of the villages of Serowe, Paje and Mabeleapodi, which was formally registered in 1992.

The sanctuary began with about 4,300 hectares of Kalahari sandveld around Serwe Pan, a grassy pan with natural waterholes. It has since grown to about 8,585 hectares.

Khama is one of the best places in Botswana to see rhino, and it’s an easy stop on the A1 between Gaborone and the north. Visitors can take self-drive and guided game drives and rhino tracking on foot.
