About This Property
Lewa Wilderness Lodge grew out of the Craig family’s 1924 farmhouse in the foothills of Mount Kenya, and the family still runs it. It sits in the 62,000-acre Lewa conservancy, one of Kenya’s great conservation stories and a refuge for black rhino and Grevy’s zebra.
Visitor numbers are low, so sightings feel private. We go on drives, night drives and walks, look for specials like Verreaux’s eagle-owl, and add horse riding, camel treks, fly-camping and village visits.
Why We Love It
We love the variety: about 40 horses for all levels, a saltwater infinity pool, a tennis court and darts by the fire on chilly evenings. A scenic biplane flight is a wonderful treat for a special occasion.

Nine thatched cottages with fireplaces, verandas and furniture handmade on site. Each has a minibar, lighting and charging points. Small hairdryers are allowed if you let the team know.
