About This Property
Ngalas Rest 101 is a five-bedroom self-catering bush house on Stand 101 in Mjejane Game Reserve — a 4,000-hectare private Big Five reserve on the southern bank of the Crocodile River, between Malelane and Komatipoort. Unlike the residential conservancies further east, Mjejane carries the full complement of Big Five, so the game viewing starts the moment you pass through the gate.
The house sleeps up to ten across five en-suite bedrooms, each with both an indoor and an outdoor shower, air conditioning and ceiling fans. Two rooms have king beds and three are configured with twin singles, which makes it an unusually flexible layout for two or three families travelling together.
Living space is arranged around a raised viewing deck and swimming pool, with a full kitchen, laundry, a lounge with DStv, a braai area and a boma for evening fires. Cleaning staff come in on weekdays and Saturday mornings, so the self-catering here is the relaxed kind rather than the chore kind.

Ngalas Rest 101 gives you the reserve without either: you book the whole house, set your own hours, cook when you feel like it, and still have lion and elephant on the property. How to Get There
From KMIA, take the N4 east towards Malelane and Komatipoort; the Mjejane Game Reserve entrance is signposted off the N4 roughly 80 km from the airport. From Johannesburg, allow about five hours via the N4. Access is through the Mjejane security gate — send your booking reference ahead so the gate has you on the list.

Things to Do
Guided Big Five game drives within Mjejane itself, run by reserve guides morning and evening. Day trips into Kruger via Malelane Gate, about 20 km away, or Crocodile Bridge Gate to the east. Hippo and crocodile viewing along the Crocodile River frontage. Birding is excellent along the riverine bush, particularly between November and March.
Good to Know
Malaria area — take precautions. Mjejane is a Big Five reserve: stay in your vehicle on reserve roads and do not walk between stands. A conservation levy of about R350 per vehicle applies per stay. Mjejane does not have its own gate into Kruger, so day trips run through Malelane Gate (roughly 20 km) or Crocodile Bridge Gate. Self-catering — bring all provisions; the nearest full supermarkets are in Malelane and Komatipoort.
